Product Review

The proofing basket is used by bread bakers to maintain dough shape during proofing This durable proofing bread basket is PP, hygienic, food safe, and easy to clean because there are no seams or splits in the basket The basket features a rippled pattern which in turn causes an imprint on the dough that is traditional for baked bread and increases surface area for crusting. The proofing basket is dishwasher proof and stackable Not for baking

The picture looked exactly like proof bowls I had purchased before, however this product was a much thinner plastic and has HOLES in it. It does not work well with my sourdough bread dough. Buying a look-a-like didn't work for me.

I have the smaller size of this basket and am ordering the larger size today. I have used them for 4-5 years now and have come to prefer them over my willow baskets. I bake 2-3 times a week and these can just be tossed in the dishwasher as I go. It is more difficult to remove the loaves than in a wooden basket but I've found that if I dust the loaf in addition to the basket that it releases easier. I also am careful to fold a towel under them while proofing to keep the loaf from drying out too much since they are perforated. I think this would not be a problem if you were a bakery with a proofing cabinet but I don't think most people have them at home.
