Reasonably priced, convenient and makes a great loaf of bread,

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
This is the third bread maker that I've owned over the years. The first two were made by Regal and back then the loaves were tall and more square in size. One of the features I like about this Breadman BK1060S is that the loaf is more rectangular in size and that means you can slice it like a normal loaf of bread.
The bread maker is an attractive design made of brushed aluminum. Although it is a thin aluminum that seems to show every dent and surface flaw easily, it's good enough. The lid of the bread maker is designed to completely lift off from the main unit if you need to remove it for cleaning. However I did notice that because of the plastic hinges that are used, a certain amount of "play" is introduced that makes it possible for the lid to hit the right edge of the main unit as you are closing the lid. This is not a huge issue, but you just need to be aware of that fact as you close the lid. I've uploaded a few photos in the Customer Images area to show you exactly...Read more

I will mention that this review was intended for the Breadman BK1050S. The BK1050S and BK1060S are the same except for the differences in the top cover finish (stainless or black). Otherwise the two units seem to be functionally the same... even the manual has both part numbers on the front... the differences are cosmetic only.
I think this video speaks for itself. You can see the nice circular scrape of bare metal that the kneading paddle was making on it's third use! You are correct... that is yummy Teflon coating from the pan being scraped into my dough. You can bet I won't be eating that loaf... You can also hear the lovely sounds of metal on metal contact that will be added to your kitchen ambiance with this machine.
I am willing to bet that the new "collapsible paddle" technology is the reason behind this poor performance. There is a hinge on the bottom of the paddle that enables it to fold down. This hinge introduces some wobble...Read more

I was so excited to see this new breadmaker on Amazon that I pre-ordered it. It's stainless steel, so it's not such an ugly white counterhog like so many other designs. It also has a gluten-free option, which we need at our house, since 3 out of 4 of us have celiac disease.
I love that the paddle is collapsible. It still does leave a hole in the bottom of the loaf, but it's not nearly as big and intrusive as a normal breadmaker. I also love that it will automatically add your fruit and nuts at the right time in the cycle. I am too absent-minded to catch it at the right time, otherwise.
It makes a great loaf of bread. I'm making my 5th loaf right now. I haven't used the actual gluten-free cycle; I use the quick-white or quick-wheat cycle with the Pamela's mix I usually use, and it turns out great. I may come back and update my review after I have used it for more recipes.
My criticisms are two-fold: first of all, the stainless steel is not the highest...Read more
