Product Review

A Brotform bread rising basket gives your bread everything you want; crunchy crust, improved texture, ribbed/floury décor and a uniform shape. It's easy; flour the Brotform and place the kneaded dough in the basket for the final rise. Transfer the loaf onto at baking sheet to bake. Great for Bread Machine owners, too. Let the machine knead the dough, Then let rise in the Brotform. Remove from the Brotform and bake. made of natural cane following century-old tradition. 11-inch round for 3-pound loaf - 7-8 cups of flour.

Brotforms can be poorly made and no matter what you do the dough stick to the splinters or crevices. This, in contrast, is very well made and wonderfully finished so that properly dusted it does precisely what it is supposed to do -- create perfectly formed and visually appealing loaves. There are some cheapies out there but this is the real thing and we use them all the time so they take use well. When not being used, they are nice enough looking to leave on the counter.

Breads come out with a beautiful pattern on top -- very professional looking! It takes a bit of practice to not deflate the proofed loaf when transfering it from the basket, but well worth the trouble for the results.

Kind of pricey, but (I hope) worth it, the cheaper models look to be less sturdy and won't last as long. We make sourdough every week and had great success with this form. The crust is super crunchy and it has a pleasing, professional look due to the cane rings. The product description said it was for a 2 pound loaf, but it can easily accommodate a 4 pound sourdough.
