Product Review

This Kaiser Bakeware Madeleine Pan is designed to bake twelve individual madeleines, the light, spongy little cakes you may associate with Italian tiramisu. This pan is made of steel for gentle, uniform heat distribution and even browning, and has a nonstick coating for quick release of the cakes. The madeleine forms, with their scallop-shell indentations, measure 3 inches long and have a dainty appeal. Overall, the pan is 15 inches long and 10-1/4 inches wide. For best results, hand washing is recommended to preserve the life of the non-stick coating. A recipe for madeleines is included.

Amazon.com Review

Designed to produce 12 of the light, spongy little cakes known as madeleines (and immortalized by Marcel Proust), this pan is made of steel for gentle, uniform heat distribution and coated inside and out with nonstick so it quickly releases the fragile madeleines and cleans up easily. Because it's black, the pan absorbs heat for better browning and quicker baking. The madeleine forms with their scallop-shell indentations measure 3 inches long and can be used for forming any type of bun or cake. Overall, the pan is 15 inches long and 10-1/4 inches wide. Though the pan is dishwasher-safe, hand washing is recommended to extend the nonstick coating's life. A recipe for madeleines is included. --Fred Brack

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product, recipe not as good, September 11, 2003

The product is great. Makes good madeleines and is non-stick as promised. It is a Kaiser (German) product but was indeed made in China (bit misleading).
However, the recipe that came with the mold is not as good as other recipes you can find elsewhere. For instance, it doesn't mention to include vanilla extract or to use melted & cooled butter. I suggest that you find your own recipe.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's not made in Germany and it's not dishwasher-safe, June 19, 2003

This pan did a OK job. It's made in China instead of made in Germany as Amazon describes. The recipe that came with it is not very accurate (only in metric measurements). My first batch of Madeleines turned out too brown on the bottom, very white on the top. Also note it's NOT dishwasher-safe. You have to wash it by hand.

Perfect for Madeleines or other treats, such as, corn muffins and morning muffins. It is very sturdy and has performed very well for the low price.
