Large roasting pan with wire rack

Amazon.com Review

Shorter days and cooler weather are a sure sign that it’s time to cook heavier, more satisfying foods. However, satisfying does not necessarily mean unhealthy when it comes to making a meaty roast. Measuring 12 by 15 inches and with a capacity of up to 25 pounds, this durable rectangular roaster can handle everything from a Sunday dinner boneless pork loin to a gigantic Thanksgiving turkey with all the trimmings. The included rack holds meats above the pan so fat and oil drip away and a leaner, healthier roast remains.

Made of heavy-gauge carbon steel with sturdy rolled edges, this roasting pan is well-balanced for lugging heavier roasts. In addition, the steel construction offers the perfect heat distribution required for roasting or baking and won’t warp under high oven temperatures. Anodized cast aluminum handles at either end provide a slip-free grip and are bolted on in an upright position, which feels more natural for lifting and carrying. The floating steel rack securely rests on the handle’s interior bolts and won’t shift during movement or scratch the bottom of the pan. Both the roaster and the rack have a high-performance nonstick coating that is resistant to even the toughest grease and oil residue. Conveniently, the nonstick coating is safe for cooking under the broiler, cooking with metal utensils, and cleaning in the dishwasher without concern of weakening its release properties. In addition to meats, the roaster can be used without the rack to roast potatoes or even bake a large, deep-dish lasagne. KitchenAid offers a one-year hassle-free replacement warranty on this roaster set. --Cristina Vaamonde

The roaster is a nice size and weight. Unfortunately, after a few uses, the teflon started coming off.

After only 8 months, the Teflon started to bubble off the pan and after contacting KitchenAid (who, to their credit, responded very quickly) I was told that the pan CANNOT be used on top of the stove, even just for making gravy. What kind of a roaster is THAT, I ask you??? They will replace the roaster but now I think of it as merely a lasagna pan with a rack. Or a roaster that can be used only if you scrape all the drippings out and into another pan before you make gravy.

The bottom line is, don't buy this roaster even though it looks great and works fine for a while.

I've had two of these. Despite a great design, the quality is unfortunately seriously flawed.

The coating on the first started to come off after a month of use, despite using appropriate utensils and only hand-washing. I replaced it, and the second was even worse. Since I don't really want Teflon in my food (or bloodstream), that was it. I'm back to All-Clad stainless steel and Calphalon hard-anodized roasters.
