I make a wide variety of breads (white, wheat, sweet, sourdough, etc.) about once a week, both from mixes as well as from scratch. Sure they're squarish, and the tops are sometimes weird, but the taste is great and they never burn. The interior mixing/baking pan is metal as is the paddle. Recently reading reviews of the new features of the Zojirushi X20, such as being able to open the lid to check how the dough looks/feels, a dough cycle, a viewing window, three crust color choices, these were already incorporated in this machine when I brought it in 1996. This model is a great machine.

I have had this machine now for about 15 years. I currently use it almost twice a week but have gone without using for many months in between spurts of bread-making enthusiasm. Works great and obviously reliable after all these years. I have considered upgrading to the newer machines (the Zojirushi looks sweet!) but always think frugally "I'll replace it when it breaks." That day has yet to come.

This machine is easy to use for many varieties of bread and they all turn out just right. I make just about all the bread our family eats and this machine makes all the bread (and pizza) dough we use. Mostly I shape finished dough into French bread and Brioche loaves which I then bake in the curved pans meant for French bread (King Arthur flour Co.) If it ever breaks, I hope I can find the exact same model to buy again.
