Product Review

This is pretty wild bakeware to be sure. Made of high quality Japanese silicone it is non-stick and flexible which means that with just a little twist, your baked goods will come right out. You can cook in the oven or in the microwave. After only a couple of minutes of being out of the oven you can touch this bakeware, unlike glass or metal pans. Easily cleaned, backed by a lifetime warranty, this innovative material has a lot to offer.

Amazon.com Review

Gone are the days of clattering baking pans when the household baker is at work. This professional-level silicone bakeware is quiet and so flexible that it folds up for storage in tight spaces. Made of FDA-approved food-grade silicone, this 9-1/2-by-2-1/2-inch round cake pan is oven-safe to 428 degrees Fahrenheit and provides even heat distribution so your chocolate cake comes out moist and delicious. The pan is nonporous and won’t retain the odors or flavors of your food after cooking. This bakeware also has a high-gloss nonstick finish on its interior for easier removal of your baked goods and faster cleanup. And, if that’s not enough, this cake mold cools down faster than traditional bakeware and is also microwave-, freezer- (down to 58 degrees Fahrenheit), and dishwasher-safe. SilconeZone’s revolutionary bakeware is covered by a lifetime guarantee. --Cristina Vaamonde

This cake pan has a nice shiny surface on the inside, which I assume makes it more non-stick. Some silicone bakeware has a dull inside surface. And cakes do flip out very easily. It also appears to be well constructed. It's flexible yet strong. Though it's a little floppy, so you do have to put a cooking sheet under it to take it out of the oven otherwise you'll break up the cake. When I bend the pan, it doesn't show any white, which indicates no fillers were used. Its other drawback is that it's only good to 428 degrees. That's okay with the cake recipes I use, but it makes wonder about its overall quality. The SiliconeZone web site says that their bakeware is FDA approved to 625 degrees, so I don't understand why this item is not.

After baking three cakes in the pan, I am totally underwhelmed by its performance. The waffle/diamond pattern in the bottom sticks badly unless you use enough oil and flour to fill them. Then, you wind up with so much flour/oil coating on the cake that you must scrape it off. They do NOT clean up easily even with large amounts of oil and flour. I could not hand clean all the residue. The residue would not come off in the dishwasher, either. Only using a Scotchbrite pad could get them clean and this is, of course not recommended.

They must be used on a cookie sheet which increases the cooking time. Do not level your batter until you place it on the cookie sheet, because, when you lift the pan, (the pan is flexible) it will undo your work. Also, you cannot use the pan inverted, for assembling because the sides are too flexible.

I'm returning them.
