Product Review

The Simax loaf dish is great for cakes, casseroles, and cold desserts. The see-through heat resistant glass helps the homemaker see the entire baking process without opening the oven or microwave. The glass pan will not chemically interact with the food in any way. Simax bake ware dishes are safe in the microwave and oven, and are very easy to clean in the dishwasher.

I got this because the price was right, the sides were near-vertical, and the clear glass allows me to easily tell if my bread is done. It's a little longer and a little narrower than a Pyrex Bakeware 1-1/2-Quart Loaf Dish, Clear and gives a loaf that's shaped more like a commercial bakery loaf. I like it so much I relegated the Pyrex to meatloaf and banana bread duty and this guy is my workhorse for bread baking for my family of 8.

I was actually looking for something a bit bigger/more industrial (closer to the size of bread you buy from the grocery store) than this. The shape is GREAT, but it is so tiny. Do NOT be decieved, get out a ruler or some form of measurement and see EXACTLY the dimensions of this loaf dish BEFORE you purchase it. This dish is well made and will get the job done, but I don't know that it's even big enough to hold what my original 9x5 dish holds. The quality of this dish is fine and it will get used.
